I-DOTT
I-dott is an organization helping Surface Pattern Design Students showcase their work through an annual competition to the international wallpaper and textile industries. I-dott aims to encourage, develop, and reward design students worldwide to become influential leaders in the vibrant and creative field of surface pattern design.
I have chosen the 'Beyond the Wall' category for this competition. The brief for the 'Beyond the Wall' category is to create a trompe-l'œil, an art technique that uses realistic imagery to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects exist in three dimensions. The task is to design a flat artwork that reflects 3D illusions. The goal is to create something that pushes the boundaries of 2D printed products and allows the user to create new, exciting dimensions in their interiors. The design must leave the viewer mesmerized and wondering. For this competition brief, I focused on creating designs with floral and textured backgrounds to achieve the illusion."
